You need enough broodstock for a continuous supply of good-quality eggs. The number of broodstock required depends on the breeding programs. After spawning, broodstock fish are either sacrificed or need to recover. Maintain staggered spawning phases to ensure reliable production. The correct male: female ratio (varies by species) should also be maintained.
